May 20, 2005 – October 30, 2024
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Serapia Marie KauakanilehuaoHilo Silva, a bright light who left this world on October 30, 2024, after only 19 short years. Best known as Sera to friends and family, she was born in San Diego, California on May 20th, 2005, to her loving parents Drake and Katie Silva.
Sera was a shining star throughout her life. The fifth of eight siblings, Sera’s brilliance and humor made sure she was not lost in the chaos of being the middle child of her large family. She was an honor student, earning her college associates degree even before graduating from high school, and her passion for language led her to pursue an American Sign Language interpreting degree at the University of North Florida. Sera is fondly remembered for her love of quality time with family and friends, always the first to encourage a board game night. Her infectious laughter, helpful nature, and unwavering kindness touched the lives of those who knew her.
Sera had a thirst for knowledge and love for art, music, and the written word. She was a creator and artist, leaving behind sketch books and original digital works from her imagination. She was musical, playing the tuba in middle school and later with a community band. Sera was an avid reader, finding solace and inspiration in the pages of countless books starting from a young age.
Sera was a granddaughter, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend who will be sorely missed by her parents, Drake and Katie Silva of Niceville, Florida; sister, Caitlin (Zach, Hayley and Riley) Bennett of Rocklin, California; sister, Emma Silva (Jorge) of Ithaca, New York; brother, Cole (Mary) Silva of Tucson, Arizona; brothers, Ethan Silva and Kaleo Silva; sisters, Clara Silva and Victoria Silva, of Niceville, Florida; and her beloved cat, Starscream.
Sera leaves behind a legacy of warmth, love, and laughter. Her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
